About The Tax Council
Celebrating 60 Years
The Tax Council (TTC) is a nonprofit membership organization founded in 1966. Our membership is comprised of (but not limited to) Fortune 500 companies, leading accounting, consulting, and law firms, and major trade associations.
For nearly six decades, we have provided a trusted forum where senior tax professionals connect with policy leaders, deepen their understanding of tax issues, and contribute to the development of sound tax and economic policies.
We do this through regular luncheons and conferences, an annual three-day Spring Tax Policy Conference, and the development of tax policy information and positions shared through testimony, white papers, letters, and direct engagement with relevant stakeholders.
Our Mission
The Tax Council’s mission is to provide leadership within the tax community by contributing to a better understanding of complex and evolving tax laws in the U.S. and throughout the world and advancing sound tax policies that encourage investment and generate economic growth.
What We Stand For
Leadership
- Comprised of tax leaders from “Fortune 500” companies, major trade associations, advisory firms and other organizations
- Provides regular networking opportunities with peers, Congressional and Administration tax and fiscal leaders, leading private sector tax and fiscal experts and other policy makers
- Fosters an atmosphere of camaraderie, community and common purpose within the greater tax community
Education
- Sponsors timely, informative and compelling tax programs
- Hosts monthly Legislative Luncheons with speakers from Congress, the Administration and the private tax and fiscal sector
- Facilitates periodic discussions of current tax and fiscal issues
- Convenes an annual Spring Tax Policy Conference
- Advances tax policy and practice through its affiliated Tax Council Policy Institute’s (TCPI) Annual Tax Policy & Practice Symposium and other events
- Communicates real-time current tax and fiscal policy developments
Policy
- Provides platforms for the discussion, debate and consideration of issues and ideas consistent with our Mission
- Develops positions and communicates, when appropriate, on important tax and fiscal issues with key policy makers
- Focuses on sustainable tax policy that encourages investment and generates economic growth
